The Black Baccara rose produces dramatic, high-centered blooms in an exceptionally dark shade of burgundy-red, with velvety petals that can appear nearly black, particularly when the flowers are still in bud or viewed in subdued light. Despite its mysterious appearance, Black Baccara has little to no fragrance; its extraordinary color and velvety texture are its defining qualities.

The name Black Baccara perfectly captures the rose’s air of mystery, elegance, and drama. “Baccara” also recalls an earlier celebrated red rose introduced by Meilland in the 1950s, whose name referenced the glamorous casino card game baccarat. With petals of deep garnet and burgundy that can appear almost black, the rose has the luxurious, slightly mysterious character its name suggests.
