The Ingrid Bergman rose produces large, classically formed hybrid tea blooms in a rich, velvety dark red. Lightly fragrant and exceptionally long-lasting both on the plant and when cut, its elegant blooms have helped make Ingrid Bergman one of the most admired red hybrid teas of the modern era.
Bred in Denmark, the Ingrid Bergman went on to receive numerous international honors and, in 2000, was voted into the World Federation of Rose Societies Rose Hall of Fame as a World’s Favourite Rose—one of the highest honors a rose can receive.
The rose was named in honor of Ingrid Bergman, the celebrated Swedish actress whose natural elegance and understated style made her one of the great stars of 20th-century cinema. She is especially remembered for films such as Casablanca, Gaslight, and Notorious, and over the course of her career received three Academy Awards. Bergman died in 1982, two years before the rose bearing her name was introduced, making it a posthumous tribute. With its timeless form, rich red color, and international acclaim, the Ingrid Bergman rose is a particularly fitting tribute to an actress whose beauty, grace, and artistry have likewise endured.
