Bred in England by the renowned Harkness rose-breeding family, the Judy Garland rose was introduced in the United States by Weeks Roses in 1978. Its parentage includes several colorful roses, which helped produce its striking blend of yellow, orange, and scarlet.

Judy Garland was one of the great entertainers of the 20th century, celebrated for her remarkable singing voice and memorable performances on stage and screen. In 1939 at the age of 16, she and her mother Ethel opened “Judy Garland Flowers” on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Judy Garland is forever associated with her portrayal of Dorothy in the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz and her performance of “Over the Rainbow,” which became her signature song. With blossoms that transform from brilliant yellow to glowing shades of orange and red, the Judy Garland rose seems an especially fitting tribute to a performer whose name remains inseparable from color, music, and the magic somewhere over the rainbow.
